The Oxford is a large-framed, hardy, early-maturing animal with strong bone and a bold appearance. The breed’s main role is as a terminal sire, producing fast-growing lambs from commercial ewes. Oxford cross lambs are found to be hardy and vigorous at birth due to good birth size and wool cover. They are capable of achieving unrivalled weight for age and typically produce 18-22kg carcases at 12-16 weeks. Alternatively, the Oxford cross lamb will also go to big weights without excess fat, achieving 22-25kg carcases at 9 months.

Suffolk sheep are a breed of domestic sheep mainly raised for meat. These sheep are crossed with mountain ewe for high-quality meat and wool. Lamb will be produced when a half-bred ewe is crossed with a Suffolk ram, Charollais, Texel or Beltex. They are considered suitable for meat production since they have unusually good conformation.
